55 qvevris, sent to Canada from Georgia, will be placed in Vancouver. Winemaker Sandro Milorava facilitated export of qvevris from Georgia by a Canadian restaurateur Pascal Roy. The qvevris have been produced in West Georgia and presently are on their way to Canada. According to Milorava, the qvevris will arrive in Canada by the end of June. The volume of the vessels varies between 50 and 1000 liters. They were made by Imeda Gogoladze from Mandaeti Village, Chiatura Municipality.

At the initial stage, Pascal Roy will use the jars for local grape varieties, however, he is planning to grow Rkatsiteli in future.

Pascal Roy visited Georgia last fall. In Kakheti, he was hosted by Marani Milorauli wine company, where the Canadian visitor participated to rtveli (grape harvest).

The Georgian traditional method of making wine in qvevri was granted by UNESCO the status of Intangible Cultural Heritage Monument, which fact points to the uniqueness of the method and is a message for the whole world that the Georgian wine is an integral part of the ancient Georgian culture.

Presently, individual winemakers produce Georgian qvevri wine in Italy, USA, France, Spain, Japan, Slovenia and Slovakia.
