The grape harvest season is almost over in the Georgian winemaking region of Kakheti, where 200 tonnes of grapes have already been processed as of September 29, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.
More than 17,000 winegrowers handed over grapes to wine enterprises, their income reaches GEL 200 million.
Of the processed grapes, up to 114 thousand tons are Rkatsiteli, 74.5 thousand tons - Saperavi, 5 thousand tons - Kakhuri Mtsvane grapes, and the rest are grapes of various varieties.
The largest amount of grapes is processed in Kvareli municipality - 53.2 thousand tons, followed by: Gurjaani - 51.3 thousand tons, Telavi - 39 thousand tons, Sighnaghi - 22 thousand tons, Lagodekhi - 11.7 thousand tons, Akhmeta - 8.3 thousand tons, Dedoplistskaro - 7.1 thousand tons and Sagarejo - 6.4 thousand tons.
As of today, about 250 enterprises were involved in the process of receiving and processing grapes.
Similarly to the previous years, the harvest headquarters coordinates the organization of the harvest, the accounting and traceability of the grapes to be handed over.
