Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) is set to receive GEL 68.5 million in 2027, up GEL 22.3 million from the current budget, under a proposal approved by Parliament’s Finance and Budget Committee.
According to CEC Deputy Chair Giorgi Sharabidze, the increase reflects preparations for the 2028 parliamentary elections and will fund staff training, IT upgrades, and renovations to the commission’s headquarters. The office facade renovation alone is expected to cost GEL 1.7 million.
Personnel expenses will account for the largest share of spending, with GEL 22.7 million allocated to permanent staff salaries and GEL 11 million to non-staff employees. Office-related costs will total GEL 5.2 million, including GEL 1.8 million for IT infrastructure.
The CEC also submitted its medium-term budget plan, projecting spending to increase to GEL 139 million in 2028 for parliamentary elections and GEL 145 million in 2029 for local elections, before declining to GEL 71.5 million in 2030.
