Georgia’s energy sector attracted $41.2 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first six months of 2026, down 66.9% year-on-year, according to Geostat.
FDI reached $31.9 million in the first quarter, while investment fell to just $9.3 million in the second quarter, representing an 83.1% annual decline.
According to data requested by BMG from Geostat, the Netherlands was the largest disclosed source of investment, contributing $17.7 million, followed by Turkey with $6 million. FDI was also recorded from Germany, China, Estonia, Ukraine and other countries, although Geostat does not disclose the amounts.
Geostat withholds investment figures when only one or two companies from a particular country operate in the sector and revealing the amount could identify the companies involved. Such information is classified as a commercial secret.
