In 2023 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Georgia had amounted to GEL 80.88 billion at current prices, with the capital city of Tbilisi continuing to dominate the economic scene by contributing a 52.7 percent of the national GDP, - according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
Following Tbilisi, the western region of Adjara contributed 9.5 percent, Imereti in the west made up 7.8 percent to the figure, the eastern Kvemo Kartli had a 7.5 percent share, and the western Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti stood at 5.4 percent.
The largest share of the value-added of Tbilisi is held by Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (24.6 percent), followed by Real estate activities (11.6 percent), Construction (9.1 percent). In Adjara A.R the main sectors include Construction (14.0 percent), Real estate activities (13.8 percent), Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (10.5 percent), while in Imereti, the third region of Georgia in terms of value added, Agriculture, forestry and fishing (11.9 percent), Manufacturing (11.2 percent) and Real estate activities (10.8 percent), represent the main spheres of economic activity. Significant shares of value added are held by the following sectors in Kvemo Kartli: Manufacturing (18.9 percent), Agriculture, forestry and fishing (15.5 percent), and Public administration and defence; compulsory social security (8.9 percent).
