The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) published foreign trade statistics for the first 10 months of 2024. As of the document, exports and re-exports from Georgia reached USD 5.46 billion in 2024, which was 7.4% more than the previous year.
Kyrgyzstan was the main trade partner for Georgia during this period of the year, where commodities worth of USD 1.05 billion were exported, amounting to an increase of 86% year-on-year.
According to statistics, Georgia mainly trades with Kyrgyzstan in automobiles, the exports of which reached USD 964 million. In turn, according to the Kyrgyz Statistics Service, they received automobiles worth less than USD 50 million from Georgia in 2024, therefore, the majority of automobiles sent from Georgia did not reach Kyrgyzstan and changed the owners on the route. Automobiles are exported to Kyrgyzstan through the northern route (via the Russian Federation), so Kyrgyz car dealers likely sold these cars in Russia after crossing the Georgian border.
As for other trends in foreign trade, Kazakhstan ranks second among the top ten export countries, with exports reaching USD 714 million, an increase of 23%.
Azerbaijan ranks third in exports with USD 611 million. Only one EU member is in the top ten export countries of Georgia, Bulgaria, where Georgia’s exports amounted to USD 93 million.
