Georgia’s foreign direct investment (FDI) fell by 19.7% year-on-year to $281 million in the first quarter of 2026, according to revised GeoStat data, replacing an earlier report of 47.7% growth.
The discrepancy resulted from revisions to 2025 data. GeoStat initially compared Q1 2026 FDI with the preliminary 2025 figure of $183.6 million, but later revised the 2025 figure to $350 million.
Using the revised baseline, GeoStat has now recalculated the annual change as a 19.7% decline. The statistics agency noted that the Q1 2026 figure itself remains preliminary and may be revised next year in either direction.
Combined FDI for the first two quarters of 2026 reached $750 million, down by 21%, or $210 million, from the same period last year.
