Georgia's TOP-10 Major Investor Companies In 2Q

The foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to USD 351.8 million in Q2 2022, up 9.1% from the adjusted data of Q2 2021, - according to the preliminary data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

BMG requested from Geostat a list of the companies, which invested the most in 2Q. According to statistics, this list includes companies operating in the energy, finance, logistics, real estate, trade and other sectors.

In 2020, the following companies, in no particular order, executed the most FDIs in Georgia:

• Georgian branch of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd
• HeidelbergCement Georgia LLC
• Toyota Caucasus LLC
• Tbilisi Energy LLC
• Batumi Oil Terminal LLC
• Adjaristskali Georgia Ltd
• JSC EP Georgia delivery
• JSC EP Georgia generation
• JSC Energo-pro Georgia
• JSC BJEO Group

In total, investors invested USD 923 million in 1H2022, which was 102% more compared to the previous year. The increase mainly comes from one transaction, namely the purchase of GWP by the Spanish company Aqualia for USD 196 million. However, no other deals of this amount took place in 2Q.

According to Geostat, the largest part of the investments comes from reinvestments, namely, USD 240 million of the 352 million FDI in the second quarter was reinvestment.
