Georgia’s tourism sector has yet to return to pre-pandemic record levels, according to official data from the National Tourism Administration. In 2025, international visitor arrivals increased 6.2% to 6,456,064, including 5,521,886 tourist visits and 1,334,943 day trips.

By comparison, in 2024, total international arrivals were 7,803,239, with 80.5% being tourists. Despite growth, 2025 figures remain 16.5% below the pre-pandemic peak recorded in 2019, when Georgia welcomed 9,357,964 international visits.

In 2019, the top source country for visitors was Azerbaijan (1,526,619 visits), followed by Russia (1,471,558), Armenia (1,365,048), and Turkey (1,156,513). That year, land borders were fully open, supporting higher visitor numbers.

Overall, while tourism is steadily recovering, the sector has not yet reached the scale of 2019, highlighting the continuing impact of pandemic-related disruptions on Georgia’s tourism market.
