German Ambassador Reaffirms Germany’s Support, Rejects Claims on Political Violence

პიტერ ფიშერი

Germany’s Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, has reaffirmed Germany's support for him and rejected claims suggesting that Germany tolerates political violence in Georgia.

In a statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ambassador Fischer said he held a “good talk” with Germany’s Minister of State for Europe, Gunther Krichbaum, during which the two discussed their concerns about Georgia’s political direction.

Fischer underlined that he continues to enjoy the full backing of the German government in his diplomatic role and stressed that allegations suggesting otherwise are unfounded.

“Good talk with German Minister of State for Europe, Gunther Krichbaum. Big concern about the direction of Georgia. Full support of German government for me as ambassador. Of course Germany rejects political violence. I have said so publicly in Georgia. To claim otherwise is untrue, NOT TRUE.,” Fischer wrote.

The ambassador’s remarks come amid ongoing political debates in Georgia and heightened international scrutiny over democratic processes and governance in the country.
