The decision to withdraw the bill On Transparency of Foreign Influence is a proper and important step, the German Embassy in Georgia stated in response to the ruling Georgian Dream’s decision made today.
The Embassy especially appreciates the ruling team’s initiative to hold dialogue with the people.
“The participation of relevant groups in the process, as well as professional debate, is the core of every democratic legislative process. We encourage all actors to take the necessary steps together for Georgia’s European future,” the statement by Embassy reads.
The parliamentary majority on Thursday decided to withdraw the draft law “On the Transparency of Foreign Influence,” following the consultations between the ruling Georgian Dream political council and People’s Power.
