The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is reviewing cooperation with Georgia, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has announced.
In addition, the statement notes the readiness to take further measures.
“No new projects will be promised or implemented with Georgia, nor will loan agreements be signed. The Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development reserves the right to take further measures in consultation with our European and international partners,” the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development said in a statement.
In addition, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, also issued a statement regarding the suspension of negotiations with the European Union by the Georgian government until the end of 2028.
“With this decision, the Georgian government is, at least temporarily, blocking the chance of a European future for its citizens. The vast majority of Georgians support EU membership. Every day, people in Tbilisi and other cities take to the streets because they want a European Georgia. In addition, rapprochement with the European Union is also enshrined in the Constitution of Georgia. The Ministry of Development has so far supported Georgia's European path. With this Georgian government, this cooperation can no longer be implemented in essence. In the future, if at all, this commitment can be continued where it strengthens the country's European ties," the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development states.
