Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Cherkezishvili held a meeting with the delegation of the Asian Development Bank where the ongoing projects of Georgia and main aspects of the future cooperation with the ADB were discussed. Helmut Fischer, the ADB Alternate Director and the Country Director for Georgia, Yesim Elhan-Kayalar were in the delegation. Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze and Romeo Mikautadze as well as the Director of Georgian Energy Development Fund, Tornike Rizhvadze also attended the meeting.
Georgian side talked about Georgia’s economic trends, the liberal business environment and the free trade agreements that attract increased interest of international investors towards the Georgian economy.
The ascent was also made on the success of Georgia in the international ratings, including the World Bank’s authoritative Doing Business 2018, which put Georgia on the 9th position.
Situation in different sectors of the economy of Georgia was also discussed at the meeting paying special emphasis on energy, financial sector and road infrastructure, where the ADB is one of the largest donors.
The Georgia-ADB cooperation in term of the CAREC was also given the highest evaluation.
At the end of the meeting, the Parties agreed to continue the cooperation in implementation of the reforms, in terms of infrastructure and other strategic projects.
