Within the framework of events dedicated to the Seafarers International Day, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Cherkezishvili opened a new simulator room at the Batumi State Maritime Academy, which will be used for training of the specialists operating on the tankers. Irakli Sharabidze, the Rector of the Academy, guided the Minister.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated that the new simulators will be additional service for both Georgian and foreign students since the simulators provide the trainings of highest standards.
Giorgi Cherkezishvili, during his visit at the Batumi Maritime Academy, also had a conversation with professors of the Academy, congratulated them on the International Seafarers Day and wished them success in their professional activities.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate seafarers as well as all the people employed in the field on the International Seafarers Day – this is a very important day for us since Georgia is a marine country and maritime service development is one of the priorities of the country. We are also very much interested in preparing the highly qualified seafarers and experts of this field. We are visiting the Maritime Academy today to follow this aim and it should be noted that this is one of the most successful schools not only in Georgia but in the whole region,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development commented.
