The Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia has officially nominated Giorgi Jincharadze, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, for the position of Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia.
The nomination was confirmed by Jemal Gamakharia, Chairman of the Supreme Council, who noted that the Council has already submitted an appeal to the Government of Georgia seeking formal approval for Jincharadze’s appointment.
“Giorgi Jincharadze, who has previously worked with our structures for several years, has been nominated as a candidate for Chairman of the Government,” said Gamakharia. “This requires agreement with the central government. After we receive consent, Mr. Jincharadze will present his government program and cabinet. The process will then proceed with committee discussions, followed by a plenary session for confirmation. This session must be held within 10 days.”
Jincharadze’s nomination comes following the resignation of Levan Mgaloblishvili, the former Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, who stepped down on June 2.
Once approved, Jincharadze is expected to outline his policy agenda and form a new government, which will undergo review and confirmation through established legislative procedures.
