Georgia’s national football team and Sporting CP midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili has entered the wine business with the launch of a new brand, “Kochora Vineyards.” The family-produced wine has been available at Georgian beverage retail outlets for about a week.

The story behind the brand comes from Kochorashvili’s family heritage in Kardenakhi, Gurjaani Municipality. In a video shared on the company’s Facebook page, the footballer said the project was inspired by his grandfather’s passion for viticulture and winemaking.

“Unfortunately, my grandfather did not have the opportunity to bring this dream to life, but my family and I want to do it in his name. We want the wine from Kochora Vineyards to represent not only a product, but also the traditions and emotions connected with Georgia’s winemaking culture,” Kochorashvili said.

According to the Business Registry, “Kochora Vineyards” was founded in February 2026 and is fully owned and managed by Giorgi’s father, Roin Kochorashvili. The family’s vineyards are located in three microzones of Kardenakhi, and the company initially produces around 3,000 bottles of traditional qvevri wine, including varieties from Akhoebi, Tsarapi and Rkatsiteli vineyards. The wine is currently positioned in Georgia’s premium segment, priced at approximately GEL 45-50 per bottle.

The company plans to expand its vineyards and increase production volumes after evaluating market demand. Kochorashvili’s family also aims to export the wine, with Spain being considered as one of the first potential international markets.
