Giorgi Butkhuzi has been replaced by Giorgi Sakhokia as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, according to an order signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The document states that Butkhuzi was dismissed from his position on November 10, and Sakhokia was appointed to the post on the same day.
Giorgi Butkhuzi is subject to visa and travel restrictions imposed by Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Butkhuzi had served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs since 2019. Prior to his appointment, Giorgi Sakhokia held the position of Rector of the Police Academy.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet issued an official statement regarding the reason for the personnel change.
