Roads Department of Georgia reported that the selection process for the company, which will build the road and railway for Anaklia port, has already ended.
The project will be prepared by the Australian multinational company “Smack”.
Four companies expressed the willingness to lead this project and presented according documentation. Three companies were selected for the next stage, which made financial offers and finally, Australian company “Smack” was selected as the one company with the best project and financial offer.
“Smack” was founded in 1949 and it is the member of SJ group, in which 14500 professionals are employed. The company has around 130 offices in over 40 countries.
“Smack” is a consultancy company developing infrastructural projects in Asia, South and North America, as well as Africa and Australia. It has developed one of the biggest and most complex scheme of hydro-electro works in Australia from 1949 to 1974. In 7 months Smack has to present the full documentation of the project.
During the selection process technical offers were assessed during the first stage with 80%, whereas financial offers on the second stage with 20%.
Roads Department of Georgia had a different selection process for this project, the form of which was selected based on the procurement practice of international of financial institutions, while also bearing in mind the demands of the law regulating state procurements. The agreement cost of the project amounts to 7 million GEL. The construction of the road and railway will start before the port starts operating.
