The Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC) and the non-governmental organization Fukuyama Democracy Frontline Center published a report “Reject Europe – Financial or Political Choice?”.
After an extensive analysis, organizations state their position in the final part of the report and consider the decision of the Georgian government "alarming". Moreover, the authors of the publication believe that the refusal of financial assistance poses a threat to Georgia's Euro-Atlantic future.
The organizations note in the report, that about 5% of Georgia’s budget revenues are filled by grants from international organizations and donors.
“Among them, the European Union is the most important donor to the Georgian budget. In the last 5 years, about 40% of the grants received in the Georgian budget come from the European Union. This figure has been growing even more in recent years and 60% of the source of grants in the 2020 budget was the European Union. According to the forecast, in the 2021 budget, this figure should be 48%,“ the report reads.
