Georgia's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Rolande Pryce, the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, to discuss potential cooperation on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.
According to the ministry, the meeting focused on the port's updated landlord model, under which the Georgian government will finance and develop the infrastructure while experienced international port operators will be invited to manage terminal operations. Kvrivishvili said the model follows international best practices and creates opportunities to attract leading global operators.
The minister also updated the World Bank on the project's progress, noting that dredging and breakwater construction are underway, while the design work for the road and railway infrastructure has already been completed. She said the government remains on schedule and aims for the first vessel to arrive at Anaklia Port in 2029.
