The government of Georgia plans to regulate bus stations operating in the country and license market players - according to the draft plan submitted by the government to the parliament.
As of the document, the new initiative will be sent to the legislative body for consideration by the end of this year.
If the draft plan is adopted, international and intercity passenger transportation will become a highly regulated sector. According to the government, the law will significantly improve the quality of services that citizens receive.
Amendments will be made to the Law on Motor Transport, as well as, the Law on Licenses and Permits and Laws on the Control of Entrepreneurial Activities.
"The amendments implemented as a result of the draft law will contribute to the improvement of the field of passenger transportation. It will ensure the facts of unhealthy competition at the bus stations, the safety of the road transport will increase, the quality of customer service will be improved, and others," the document reads.
