The grape harvest has begun in the Racha region, with 120 tons of grapes processed so far, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. Of this total, approximately 110 tons consist of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli varieties, while the remaining includes other types.

In Kakheti, Georgia’s largest wine-producing region, the harvest is also underway. As of October 6, up to 214,000 tons of grapes have been processed there. The harvest forecast for Racha-Lechkhumi this year is estimated between 1,500 and 2,000 tons.

The government has implemented a subsidy program to support winegrowers in the region. Companies purchasing at least three tons of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes from the Khvanchkara microzone and paying growers a minimum of 8 GEL per kilogram will receive a state subsidy of 4 GEL per kilogram.

To ensure grape quality and varietal accuracy, ampelographers inspect grapes at all receiving points. Checkpoints have also been established to prevent the import of grapes from other municipalities, maintaining the integrity of the local harvest.
