Green Energy Shifts Strategy to Industrial-Scale Solar Projects

მარიამ შენგელია

Mariam Bokeria, Head of Communications at Green Energy and Datene, has welcomed the government’s decision to write off fines for energy companies, calling it a timely and correct move. Speaking on the TV-program Analytics, she noted that while the decision is not a final solution, it helps create a more predictable environment for investors to make informed decisions about where and how to allocate capital.

According to Bokeria, solar energy has become a clear priority for the company. Although the development of small-capacity solar stations slowed this year, Green Energy has redirected its efforts toward industrial-scale projects. She highlighted that the company’s industrial solar power plant in Kaspi has already been completed and commissioned.

Bokeria said the company plans to continue exclusively in this direction, moving away from small micro-stations previously developed under the net metering mechanism. She emphasized that industrial solar projects are especially important for the energy sector and for supporting small and medium-sized businesses.

In the third quarter of 2025, three solar power plants with capacities of up to 10 MW were launched in test mode in Georgia. These include El-Habib’s Kaspi Solar Plant and the Alazani Solar Plants in Khorsa and Gurjaani, marking the country’s first industrial-scale solar facilities integrated into the national energy system.
