Tea manufacturer "Greengold" is starting its export to China, marking a significant milestone for the company. Nika Sioridze, the founder of Greengold, told BM.GE that a contract has already been signed, and the first shipment is scheduled to be sent out soon.
"This is a major development that hasn't happened before. While small quantities of Georgian tea may have been sent to China previously, this is the first time we are undertaking mass export. We also plan to export tea to Singapore and the U.S.," said Sioridze.
According to Sioridze, 80% of the company's sales come from exports. Its products are already available in 15 countries, primarily across Europe, as well as in Asia and the U.S. This year, the company plans to further expand its geographical reach. Sioridze also noted that entering new markets, including China, will directly lead to an increase in production. In 2026, Greengold aims to produce around 10 tons of premium tea to support its expanding export efforts.
"We plan to increase production by up to 10 tons this year, which will represent a 25% growth. This is driven by the fact that we already have preliminary agreements for new markets, including China. We have signed a contract with China, and within a week, we will send out several shipments. As the season begins, we will also become more active in terms of supply,” explained Sioridze.
He added that Georgian tea is competitively priced in the international market: “In the premium segment, the average price of our tea is around 22 euros, while the more mass-market products range between 13-15 euros,” he said.
Greengold is a Georgian tea manufacturer based on revitalized plantations in the village of Nagomari. Today, the company produces about 25 types of tea.
