As of June 30, 2026, Georgia had 820,627 active health insurance policies, according to the Insurance State Supervision Service. The number was 54,815 higher than a year earlier and 85,566 higher than in June 2024. Overall, around 21% of Georgia’s population is covered by private health insurance.
Health insurance remained the largest segment of Georgia’s insurance market in the first half of 2026. Insurers collected GEL 460.4 million in premiums, up 22.9% from GEL 374.6 million in H1 2025. The average monthly premium per active health insurance policy rose to GEL 93.5, compared with GEL 81.5 a year earlier - a 14.7% increase.
Imedi L remained the market leader, collecting GEL 135 million in premiums and accounting for 30% of the health insurance market. GPI and ARDI ranked second and third, with GEL 75.1 million and GEL 73.1 million in premiums, respectively, each holding a 16% market share.
Other major players included TBC Insurance with GEL 42.2 million (9%), Benefit with GEL 38 million (8%), while other insurers collectively accounted for GEL 97 million, or 21% of the market.
