Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia confirms that the Ministry of Health has restricted adding new services to the universal health care program.

The point is that, it has become clear on October 28 that the Ministry of Health has restricted the inclusion of new inpatient medical facilities in the universal health care program. The decision of Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze also applies to those clinics, which have been serving the state program for years, but no longer have the right to give their services.

According to the representatives of the clinics, the Ministry "locked" the special portal so that the Ministry did not publish the relevant order or resolution.

Journalists today asked the Deputy Minister of Health whether this information is true and what is really happening.

“Institutions participating in the universal health care program can offer a new service to the Ministry. There is a portal where it all loads, including the price of the service. Since the start of the program, there has been an overproduction of services, leading to price increases and irrational distribution in health services. For about a second year, the Ministry of Health has set up a commission to receive applications from new provider clinics, which should substantiate why it is necessary to launch a specific provider at a particular location, or what is needed to add a new service. New services are being added by the decision of the commission, and the addition of services by the will of the clinics is limited for about a year and a half”, Tamar Gabunia said.
