Some of the insurance companies claim that one of the reasons for price increase on private insurance packages is the policy of the Ministry of Health, including the DRG financing scheme.

According to Geostat, in October, health insurance increased in price by an average of 13% annually, and by 8.7% monthly.

As of the insurnace company "Ardi", the current tariff scheme within the framework of the universal healthcare program is somewhat harmful for the hospital sector, which the clinics try to compensate by growing the price of services for insurance companies.

As Mikheil Japaridze, general director of the company told BMG, the increased medical service, in turn, is reflected in the cost of the insurance packages.

According to him, the state should change its policy in the medical sector to keep the prices mopre stable, including to allow the so-called built-in insurance packages.

"In general, the existing state policy in the healthcare sector obviously affects the prices of the clinics, including, due to the accreditation system, a number of requirements arose for the clinics, which, in turn, demanded expenses, and this was finally reflected in the prices. If private insurance services become more expensive, the prices of insurance policies also become more expensive.

An indirect increase in the cost of health insurance is that we cannot receive the so-called built-in insurance packages. That citizens are not penalized for using private insurance and not be excluded from the universal health care program and vice versa. There should be a holistic approach, when the whole system is discussed together by insurance companies, the state and clinics, but we have not been able to achieve this result so far", said Mikheil Japaridze.
