The Committee discussed and rejected the Bill of Business Association of Georgia concerning the change to the Law on Tobacco Control.
The Bill envisages a new record in the Law on terms and obligations different from the specific and traditional tobacco products in view of sale and disposal of new tobacco products.
The reporter, First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Vladimir Kakhadze stated that the changes contradict with the essence of the Law on Tobacco Control supported even by smokers.
The opinion poll pursuant to the normative act, revealed 86% of the smokers supporting the Law and thus, these changes will aggravate its essence.
“The Committee exercises the function envisaging the protection of the public health. We will further strive to prevent the increase of the number of smokers. So, let’s quit smoking and live in a tobacco-free environment as tobacco kills”, - the Chair, Dimitri Khundadze stated.
