The Border Police helicopter of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has joined the heavy snowfall-caused disaster elimination efforts in western Georgia.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, Vice Prime Minister and Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani, Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani, and representatives of local authorities conducted monitoring of the situation in villages of all three municipalities of the Guria region from the helicopter.
“As soon as the meteorological conditions improved, starting this morning, the Border Police helicopter has joined the heavy snowfall-caused disaster elimination efforts in western Georgia. The helicopter will participate in rescue operations as needed, providing essential supplies and food to the population.
The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Defence Forces and representatives of other agencies, continue to work with all appropriate special equipment continuously and assist the population,” reads the MIA statement.
