Georgian greenhouse producer Herbia will open a new one-hectare greenhouse in Tskaltubo later this year as part of a GEL 1 million investment, founder Zurab Janelidze told BM.GE. The facility, supported by a state program, is expected to reach full operational capacity this autumn.

Janelidze said the company has maintained annual growth of around 20% in both production and sales and expects this trend to continue. Herbia, one of Georgia's leading producers of greenhouse-grown herbs and vegetables, has been operating since 2006.

Alongside expanding production, the company is developing its agrotourism business, combining agricultural, wine, and culinary tourism. The project will target both international and domestic visitors while also offering educational programs for children and teenagers focused on nature and agriculture.

Janelidze said the agricultural sector continues to face challenges, particularly shortages of skilled labor and modern technologies. He noted that these issues were raised during a recent meeting with Agriculture Minister Davit Songulashvili and expressed hope for further development in both areas.
