აქცია

A number of prominent figures from Georgia’s hospitality and tourism sectors have declared a boycott of the upcoming local elections, citing political concerns and expressing opposition to what they describe as a “Russian Regime” operating in the country.

The movement was highlighted in a social media post by restaurateur Ketevan Bakradze, who emphasized that Georgia’s European future cannot be achieved through cooperation with the current government.

“We are joining the boycott of local elections because we want Georgia in Europe and believe that the country’s European future cannot be realized through collaboration with the regime. We call for unity. No to the Russian regime! No to Russian elections!” the statement reads.

The boycott is being supported by several well-known names in the culinary and hospitality industries, along with figures from related sectors. Among the signatories are:

Tamar Sikharulidze – Founder, Chairman of the Association for the Development of Gastronomic Culture

Meriko Gubeladze – Restaurateur, Chef

Ketevan Bakradze – Restaurateur, Chef

Nato Makhaldiani – Owner, Café “Tone”

Buka Machavariani – Owner, Restaurant “Guda”

Tamuna Tandashvili – Aviation Expert

Ani Alibegashvili – Businesswoman, Co-Founder of Step Inn Hotel

Luka Nachkebia – Restaurateur, Chef

The boycott reflects growing tensions between parts of civil society and the government, particularly among those who advocate for Georgia’s alignment with the European Union and distancing from pro-Russian influence.
