Hotel Qvevrebi recorded a 15-20% decline in occupancy in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to co-founder Giorgi Rochikashvili. He said the drop was mainly driven by geopolitical tensions affecting global tourism flows.
Rochikashvili noted that conflicts in the Middle East and ongoing instability in the northern region have had a negative impact on visitor numbers. While guests continue to arrive from various countries, including Europe, Russia, and other markets, overall tourist traffic has decreased.
The hotel has not changed its prices, as the main challenge is weaker demand rather than pricing. “The issue is not the price itself, but the shortage of tourists. This is not happening only at our property - others in the sector are facing the same situation,” he said.
Currently, a standard room at Hotel Qvevrebi costs around GEL 400 per night, including breakfast. The company does not plan expansion at this stage and is focused on overcoming current market challenges, with recovery largely depending on broader geopolitical developments.
