Executive Director of "Inn Group" Erekle Kokaia considers lack of snow to be the main problem in mountain resorts in 2023, so tourists and travel companies canceled their reservations. However, thanks to artificial snow in recent days, ski tracks have been opened, which they hope will ease the situation.
"If you don't come for skiing, there is not much else to do in Gudauri, therefore, due to the lack of snow, reservations were canceled and it was a big challenge for us. It's been the last week that two ski tracks with artificial snow have been opened in Gudauri, and this allows us to survive," explained Kokaia.
According to him, the accommodation prices increased in 2022-2023 and in some cases exceeded the figures of 2019 by 20-30%.
"Despite the increase in hotel room prices, profitability has not increased, because the costs necessary for the operation of the hotel are growing even more disproportionately and it has doubled," Kokaia explained.
