Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC) declares that the epidemiological situation in the country has worsened for the last week.
According to the NCDC head, an increase of coronavirus cases was predicted on the background of lifting COVID-related regulations. However, he notes that we still can avoid the third wave of coronavirus.
“If we keep insignificant growth of COVID-cases in March and April, we will avoid the third wave of coronavirus. But we must follow all recommendations: clean your hands often, wear a face mask, keep distance, avoid large gatherings and of course vaccination”, Amiran Gamkrelidze told TV Pirveli.
Gamkrelidze added that the chance to avoid the third wave of coronavirus increases if more people get COVID jab.
