The ministry of Health founded the announced NNP “Partnership for Affordable Health” – with this name will function the new program, meant to ensure for pensioners and persons with special needs affordability of medicines necessary for certain chronic diseases, including ‘possible halving of prices’.

“The government will launch a tender, to which any company will have an opportunity participate. The medicines will of course be selected based to needs, however, the focus will be made on the essential medicines necessary for treatment of most spread chronic diseases,” – states Irakli Margvelashvili, Chair of the Board of Partnership for Affordable Health.

According to him, the NNP was registered couple of days ago and the Association of Pharmaceutical Companies and local producer GMP are among the founders together with the Ministry of Health.

“We have also started researching prices, this has been a widely discussed issue and polipragmasy (excessive medicine prescription by doctors) problem I also well known for everybody, so it is necessary to deeply analyze these issues,” – states Margvelashvili.

According to him, the NNP will not be financed from the state budget and its budget will be filled by contributions of the Association and GMP.
