As of January 2026, Georgia has 294,573 active entrepreneurial entities, including 201,111 individual entrepreneurs and 84,984 limited liability companies (LLCs), according to official statistics. In total, 1.1 million organizations are registered in the country, but only about 27% currently hold an active status.
These figures come as the government prepares to introduce a new administrative offense targeting entrepreneurial entities that engage in public political activity unrelated to their business. Under the proposal initiated by the ruling party, such activity could result in a 20,000 GEL fine, doubled to 40,000 GEL for repeated violations.
It remains unclear exactly which entrepreneurs the restriction will apply to and how “public political activity” will be interpreted. The State Audit Office would be responsible for imposing the fines. Under Georgian law, entrepreneurial entities include individual entrepreneurs, LLCs, joint-stock companies, cooperatives, and various forms of partnerships.
Active entities are distributed across organizational forms as follows: 201,111 individual entrepreneurs, 84,984 LLCs, 844 joint-stock companies, 165 cooperatives, 117 general partnerships, and 16 limited partnerships.
