After a four-year pause, Russian airlines resumed flights to Georgia in 2023. Despite criticism from the EU and the US and the threat of secondary sanctions, the government made a decision in favor of starting flights, citing economic benefits. Currently, two Russian airlines, Azimuth and Red Wings, fly to Georgia. Along with them, Georgian Airways also fulfils flights to Russia. According to the Civil Aviation Agency, the Georgian airline had a 120% increase in passengers in 2023. The airline also increased its passengers this year to 515,113 (by 57.5%), but it is impossible to say exactly how much of this comes from Russia.
