Georgian banks had the largest queues of Russian customers during April, when more than 10,000 Russians opened accounts. In July, an additional 7,000 Russian citizens opened bank accounts.
Opening Statistics Of bank Accounts By Months:
• From February 24 to March 24 - 7,875 Russian citizens;
• From March 24 to April - 10,078 Russian citizens;
• In May - 6,647 Russian citizens;
• In June - - 7,374 Russian citizens;
• In July - 6,985 Russian citizens;
• In August - 6,390 Russian citizens.
"As of August 2022, Russian citizens' deposits amount to GEL 1.88 billion in Georgian commercial banks.
The volume of deposits owned by Russian citizens increased by approximately GEL 1.2 billion (+ 170%) compared to the pre-war period (until February 24, 2022),- the report says.
In total, 60,000 Russians own deposits in Georgian banks.
