1,188,234 visits were made by international visitors to Georgia in 9M2021, which was a decrease of 13.2% compared to the same period last year, and 80.1% - compared to 2019.

According to the Agency of Protected Areas, as of September 30, the number of visitors to the protected areas of Georgia has increased 2.4 times compared to the same period last year, and according to the data for 9 months of 2021, 500,853 visitors visited the protected areas of Georgia.

“The number of visitors to the protected areas of Georgia was down by 52% in 2021 compared to the data of 9 months of 2019 (1,032,293), but the Agency of Protected Areas hosted almost half of the number of visitors, which was observed in 2019. The visits were recovered on the protected areas only from May 26”, - said the Agency of Protected Areas.

According to them, the number of foreign visitors has increased 10.4 times in 2021. Among the visitors, 48% are citizens of Georgia (242,601) and 52% (258,252) are citizens of other countries.

Martvili Canyon was the most visited out of the protected areas.
