In 2023, cheese and cottage cheese USD 1.47 million worth was exported from Georgia, which hit a record high. Georgian cheese and cottage cheese are exported to seven countries, namely: Armenia, the United States of America, Canada, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Kazakhstan.
Cheese and cottage cheese USD 786,000 worth were exported from Georgia to Armenia in 2023, which was 53% of the total exports. Canada is also a big buyer of Georgian dairy products, where USD 603,000 worth of cheese and cottage cheese was sold in 2023, which was 41% of exports. In total, 94% of exports accounted for Armenia and Canada.
The exports of cheese and cottage cheese are characterized by positive dynamics. The export of this product has been growing steadily since 2017, when Georgia received a total of USD 537,000 from the sale of cheese and cottage cheese. If in 2017-2023, on average, USD 722,000 worth of cheese and cottage cheese was exported from Georgia, in 2010-2016, this figure stood at USD 86,000. The growth made up 524%.
