How Much Fuel Did Georgia Import From Europe In 2021?

In 2021, 424,517 tons of gasoline and diesel fuel were imported from European countries - Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Italy, which is 36.9% of total imports, - according to the Union of Oil Product Importers.

According to statistics, imports of gasoline and diesel fuel in Georgia amounted to 1,148,705 tons in January-December 2021, which is 42.7 thousand tons or 3.9% more compared to the same period of the last year (1,105,995 tons), while the volume is 52,7 thousand tons or 4.8% more compared to the same period of the pre-pandemic levels (1 096 018 tons).

Last year, the largest volume of gasoline and diesel fuel was imported from Turkmenistan amounting to 244,601 tons, which is 21.3% of total imports.

The list of other importing countries is as follows: Russia - 221 181 tons (19.3%); Azerbaijan - 215 872 tons (18.8%); Romania - 204,638 tons (17.8%); Bulgaria - 167,708 tons (14.6%); Greece - 37 223 tons (3.2%), Turkey - 33 021 tons (2.9%), Italy - 14 948 tons (1.3%), Kazakhstan - 2 824 tons (0.2%) and others.

"Turkmenistan has been recognized as the largest supplier of gasoline and diesel fuel in the country for the first time. Including, it is the largest supplier of gasoline fuel (type A-91 only), while the Republic of Azerbaijan is the largest supplier of diesel fuel," – said the Union of Oil Product Importers.
