Georgian Product Renaissance (GPR), a hazelnut and pecan nut processing company, processed 20 tons of pecans this year, of which 6 tons were exported to Poland in vacuum packaging, and some were sold locally.
As Baia Salukvadze, co-founder of Georgian Product Renaissance explains, the product will be sold in Polish markets. According to her, the company added the Pecan processing line for the first time this year. The company plans to enter Europe and Asian countries for the next season.
"We have added a pecan walnut processing line this year and Georgian Product Renascence is the only company which make exports. This year we will receive products from farmers, which will increase our capacity.
The first year has been quite profitable, but pecan processing has high expenditures, it is noteworthy that there are no commercial gardens in Georgia yet, we want to do a research with foreign experts on the cultivation of pecan commercial gardens in Georgia, the product is in high demand and in constant shortage, no matter how much it will definitely be sold in the international market, there is a high demand in the local market as well, confectioneries are actively buying pecans”, explains the co-founder of Georgian Product Renaissance.
