A record amount of GEL 7.399 billion was spent on state procurement in 2022, which was approximately 10.3% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). In 2021, this amount stood at GEL 5.7 billion. Compared to 2011, the amount of money spent on state purchases increased 2.7 folds - from GEL 2.6 billion to GEL 7.4 billion.

According to the State Procurement Agency, more than 34,000 open electronic tenders were announced last year; 32 207 tenders were given final status and more than 23 100 contracts were signed.

The total value of state procurement contracts concluded through electronic and consolidated tenders amounted to GEL 6,099,248,304, which was 82.4% of the total volume of state procurement, while the total value of contracts signed on the basis of simplified procurement amounted to 17.6% of total procurement - GEL 1,299,372,990.

According to the agency's data, purchases of GEL 543 million were signed through consolidated tenders, and the savings obtained in these types of tenders exceeded approximately GEL 36 million.

As for the simplified purchases, as the agency explains, the largest share - 34% (436,061,655 GEL) accounts for the simplified procurement made to fulfill Georgia's international obligations (in the field of sports), followed by purchases made for the country's infection control and agricultural procurement.
