Imports of wheat flour increased 2-fold in January-August 2021, compared to the same period of the last year. The volume of imported products is slightly higher compared to 2019.
According to official statistics, during the reporting period, Georgia purchased 9,614.7 tons of wheat or rye flour worth $ 2.8 million. (7M2020 - 6 630.7 tons, cost of USD 1.9 million; 7M2019 - 9 301.3 tons, cost of USD 2.7 million).
Russia is the largest import market in terms of wheat flour imports.
Accordingly, 92.8% of the flour purchased on the foreign market accounts for Russia. At the same time, imports from this area increased by 66.6% this year compared to 7 months of 2020, while the increase totals to 56.3% compared to 2019.
