“Our country needs the efficient and mobile defense forces with high morale and inter-operability with NATO for the effective defense and deterrence of the existing threats”, - the Chair of the Committee, Irakli Beraia stated during the consideration of the draft State Budget 2022.
The document was introduced by the First Deputy Finance Minister, Giorgi Kakauridze along with the main directions and fiscal indices of the budget. He dwelt on the budgetary assignments for the law-enforcement agencies, namely: GEL 918 ml for the Defense Ministry; GEL 800 ml for the Interior Ministry; GEL 140 ml for the State Security Service; GEL 14,5 ml for the Intelligence Service; GEL 8,3 ml for the Veterans’ State Service; GEL 61 ml for the State Special Protection Service; and GEL 3,2 ml for the National Security Council.
The Committee members underlined the necessity of the increased funds for the Defense Ministry noting the importance to respond to the threats Georgia encounters.
According to the Deputy Chair of the Committee, Vladimir Chachibaia, the financing for the defense sphere shall be increased to GEL 1 bl., and the funds for the veterans shall be revised.
After the consideration and providing the expressed positions, the Committee approved the Draft.
