The hazelnuts harvest will reach 55 thousand tons this year, - Nut Producers Association of Georgia declares.
The association also notes that the price of hazelnuts is unknown at this stage and it will be determined by quality from July 20. The harvest volume is projected to grow by 10% compared to the last year. The association also clarified that Georgian farmers will not have a problem with handing over hazelnuts.
"We hope that the price will not be lower compared to the last year, but Turkey has a very good harvest and we will have to compete with other countries by quality. All this is directly related to prices, the higher quality products we have, the higher the price will be.
Harvesting will be intensive from August to mid-September. At the same time, the crop is being intensively sold, and farmers are selling a large part of their crop,” - Chitanava said.
