How will mandatory travel insurance affect transit visitors? - With the mentioned question, MP Khatia Tsilosani addressed "Georgian Dream" MP Irakli Kirtskhalia, who presented the amendment to the draft law on "Tourism" in the first reading at the plenary session of the Parliament.
As Kirtskhalia mentioned, mandatory travel insurance is already valid in 90% of the countries from which tourists can get through Georgia, so this will not create a problem.
"Mandatory travel insurance applies to almost 90% of the countries from which tourists can travel through Georgia. There were no cases where there was a delay due to the lack of insurance, this will simply be included in the regulation and will be mandatory," said Kirtskhalia.
According to him, the purpose of the appropriate change in the tourism law is to bring the issue into the regulations, since more than 95% of visitors to Georgia already use private insurance.
"So there are only minor cases where they come here without insurance, it's just to make it legal and mandatory," he said.
