"Nikora Trade" is set to reshape Georgia’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector with the development of a large-scale logistics center near Tbilisi International Airport. Construction is expected to be completed within two years. According to Temur Aleksandria, CEO of Nikora Trade, the facility will be unprecedented in scale and capability for the local market and is designed to strengthen not only the company’s operations but the FMCG sector as a whole.

“This infrastructure will be unique in both scale and content,” Aleksandria told BMG. “We are building a 42,000-square-meter warehouse equipped with modern technology and digital management systems. We’ve already implemented SAP, one of the leading digital solutions globally, as part of our preparation.”

The new hub will also feature a strong green energy component, including solar panels capable of generating substantial volumes of clean energy. Additionally, Nikora is testing electric vehicles for logistics and plans to introduce them more widely in future operations.

The logistics center is expected to help unload the city’s traffic by centralizing nighttime deliveries in larger volumes. This strategy is designed to reduce daytime congestion, minimize the number of delivery vehicles on the road, and improve overall distribution efficiency.

“We’ll use the new hub to supply our stores at night with larger shipments, which will help ease traffic and reduce vehicle numbers in the city,” Aleksandria said.

More than just a warehouse, Aleksandria describes the logistics center as an investment in the future of the entire FMCG industry in Georgia. The project will create hundreds of new jobs, while optimizing Nikora’s supply chain and improving services for customers and retail partners.

“This infrastructure will allow us to fully control inventory and resolve many of the problems caused by dependence on a fragmented network of 300 suppliers—most of whom lack sophisticated systems,” said the CEO.

“It will also support small entrepreneurs who struggle with distribution capacity. Once the hub is operational, we will receive their products centrally and handle the distribution within our network.”

Though Aleksandria did not disclose the exact cost of the project, BMG has learned that both tranches of Nikora Trade’s 120 million GEL bond issuance (60 million GEL each) are fully allocated to financing the construction of the new logistics center.

“For Nikora, leadership is not just about having many stores or high turnover. It means making bold, strategic moves that contribute to the transformation of the sector,” Aleksandria concluded.

Once complete, the facility is expected to set a new standard for logistics infrastructure in Georgia, significantly enhancing the country’s retail ecosystem and contributing to a more efficient and transparent supply chain for all players.
