The Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Investments will focus on strategic, priority investment projects and ensure the involvement of foreign investors in their implementation, according to a government report (June 2020-June 2021).

"Attracting investment is a precondition for the rapid development of the country's economy. Therefore, the development of a unified policy in this direction is one of the priorities. For this purpose, the former Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Vazil Hudak, has been appointed Special Adviser to the Prime Minister. The advisor will work to mobilize support from the foreign public and private sectors for the new economic strategy of the Government of Georgia. The advisor will also focus on strategic, priority investment projects and ensure the involvement of foreign investors - both individuals and legal entities," the PM's report reads.

Let us remind you that the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili appointed Vazil Hudak as a special advisor in the field of attracting foreign investments on May 7.

According to preliminary data, the volume of foreign direct investment in Georgia in 2020 amounted to 616.9 million USD, which is 52.9% less than the 2019 adjusted data. Georgia did not have such small investments even in 2008-2009, during the post-war period in the country.
