“The Prosecutor’s Office will conduct the investigation and everyone should submit evidence to the state institutions if they have any,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the PM, President Salome Zourabichvili grossly violated election principles.
“Georgia has a parliamentary system of governance where according to the constitution, the president cannot be party affiliated and must be non-partisan, she cannot be involved in the election campaign for the benefit of any party or parties,” he said.
Irakli Kobakhidze believes that President Salome Zourabichvili has no evidence to confirm the election fraud and she will not dare to arrive at the Prosecutor’s Office.
“Salome Zourabichvili is a public official person. She has different responsibilities. She has no right to assert orally, and if she has facts, she should submit them to the Prosecutor’s Office. However, I am not confident that she would dare to arrive there or give any information over the allegations, which she voices,” Kobakhidze stated.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia launched an investigation into election fraud allegations following the recent parliamentary elections by the President, opposition political parties and local observers at the October 30 request of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is summoned for interrogation on October 31.
